Student Leadership

Student voice is an important part of our school culture. Students have the opportunity to be part of the school community through a range leadership roles. Students are involved in classroom roles which are rotated throughout the terms providing all students with responsibilities relevant to their age.

Each class has members of the Student Action Team which is an opportunity to give their class members ideas and opinions about a range of school issues and be part of our decision making process in relation to student issues. They meet regularly throughout the year to discuss matters relevant to them and to organise whole school fundraising events.

Our House Captains organise their teams for yard duty every 4 weeks. Students are involved in sweeping the yard, recycling activities, watering plants, weeding and generally keeping the yard clear of rubbish and raking bark in equipment areas.

School Captains are voted by the whole school, with elections held early each year. They represent the school at a range of events both in the school and at community events such as ANZAC Day services. They attend the GRIP Leadership programme in Mt Gambier each year in preparation for their roles.

YELP – Young Environmental Leaders Program has also been a part of the school for many years, giving students the chance to be involved in school and local environmental project such as recycling projects and teaching younger students the importance of this, looking at native plants from the area and creating new garden areas in the school.
